Reaching Out to Others

Central is committed to reaching out and helping others in need in Webb City, surrounding communities, and the world.

Free Kids Meals - Webb City Farmers Market

Begins May 25 and runs through August 15

The Free Kids Summer Meals are served in the big tent by the market. The work is light, but can get hot when the weather is warm. Most jobs can be done while sitting on a stool. The meal is free to any child or youth from ages 1 through 18. There are no income or residency requirements. We estimate that close to half of the children who eat are food insecure and know that all of the children are introduced to fresh local fruits and vegetables.

  • Tuesdays from 4:15 pm to 6:45 pm
  • Thursdays from 10:45 am to 1:15 pm
  • Saturdays from 8:45 am to 11:15 am

We are happy to schedule groups or individuals. For more information, or to sign up! Contact Eileen Nichols or the Church Office.

Members of Central UMC work at Crosslines on the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the new location - 320 S. School Avenue in Joplin. Anyone who is not afraid to work hard and gain personal satisfaction by helping others is welcome.

Our congregation is very supportive in donating items monthly. Crosslines appreciates any item you feel you can donate, especially powdered milk and personal care items as these are always needed.

May items to donate:
  • Small household items (blankets, pots and pans)
  • Peanut butter
  • Slow cookers
  • Coffee pots
  • Toasters
  • Size 4 diapers

Webb City CARES

Now is also a great time to start donating items for the Back-to-School event in August.

Hygiene products: toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, floss, toothbrushes, and soap

If you plan to volunteer at the schools, you will need to have a background check. Please stop by the school and fill out a volunteer background check form for the Webb City school district.
